Notice is hereby given in terms of the Environmental Management Act (No. 7 of 2007) and Regulation 21 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations that Haib Minerals (Pty) Ltd intends to apply for an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the proposed development of the Haib Copper Mine near Noordoewer, //Kharas Region, Namibia.

Knight Piésold Consulting (Pty) Ltd was appointed to undertake the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the proposed development.

Nature and location of proposed activity: The Haib Copper Project is located approximately 25 km north-east of Noordoewer, along Namibia’s southern border. The proposed activity includes:

• An open-pit copper mine,
• On-site processing plant,
• Tailings and waste storage facilities,
• Solar photovoltaic (PV) plant,
• Access roads,
• Power supply lines,
• Water pipelines, and
• Supporting infrastructure

If approved, construction will take 2–3 years, with a mine life of approximately 19 years.
